Ridiculously Good Bumble Bee Costume

The costume is being worn by Michael Khan (me). The inspiration for the costume came from Michael Bay’s 2007 movie Transformers. I built the costume over a period of two weeks using a variety of materials including cardboard, duct tape, cellophane, and dollar store reading lights. The helmet was made first, almost entirely of cardboard and duct tape.

Bumble Bee Costume

I wrapped blue cellophane over small reading lights to use as Bumble-bee’s eyes I used the same blue cellophane on a led push light attached to back of a black glove for Bumble Bee’s gun arm. The torso was the most difficult piece to build. I used push lights for the headlights and inserted speakers to play music clips which served as my voice This costume was incredibly easy to maneuver around in with the only difficulty being limited vision.
