Homemade Miss AfterLife Skeleton Costume
The glamour of beauty pageants, the fascination of bones. It’s combination is both comical yet absurd, and that’s the way I like it. A twist on the traditional Miss America ideal. I prefer to create what has never been seen before, unlike those who copy popular movie or cosplay characters down to the detail. Hand-painting skeleton bones onto black fabric was a first for me. And although I lack the talent of a true artist, I am happy with how the ribcage, spine, and jaw bone came out. I added a trailing ruffle to the gown I found at a second hand store, and had fun configuring my fabulous flower bouquet. And the final touch was painting the white silk scarf with sparkly red letters, “Miss AfterLife”. I received a lot of attention, many compliments and photo requests, enjoying the role of feeling famous and beautiful. Hahaha.
